Pleated Mesh Sliding Door in Jaipur & Lucknow — a complete guide
A German pleated mesh sliding door — also called a plisse or retractable insect screen — folds away like a concertina instead of swinging or sliding on a fixed frame. GPC Safety Solutions installs these systems as a professional service, not an off-the-shelf product: every opening is surveyed, the track is cut to the exact width, and the mesh tension is set on site so the screen glides with one finger and closes flush against a magnetic strip.
It is the right answer for wide balcony doors, french windows and terrace openings where an ordinary aluminium mosquito frame is either too heavy or visually intrusive. The pleated polyester mesh keeps mosquitoes, houseflies and dust out while retaining airflow and the view, and when it is not needed the entire screen retracts into a slim side cassette barely 40 mm deep.
Benefits of pleated mesh sliding door
- Spans wide openings up to about 4 m without a fixed centre post
- Retracts fully into a slim cassette — no visual obstruction when not in use
- Pleated mesh resists tearing and springs back into shape after impact
- Smooth single-finger glide with soft-stop and magnetic closure
- Keeps mosquitoes, flies and dust out while airflow and daylight remain
- Child- and pet-friendly: no loose flaps, sharp edges or hanging cords

Pleated Mesh Sliding Door FAQs — Jaipur & Lucknow
What is a German pleated mesh sliding door?
It is a retractable insect screen whose mesh folds like a concertina into a slim side cassette, running on a top and bottom aluminium track. It suits wide doors where a conventional hinged or sliding mosquito frame is impractical.
How wide an opening can it cover?
A single panel comfortably covers up to about 2 m; a double-track centre-opening system covers roughly 4 m. Wider openings are split into multiple bays at the site visit.
Does the bottom track obstruct walking?
No. We fit a low-profile track only a few millimetres high, which is easy to step over and can be surface-fixed or recessed.
Will it keep out small insects and dust?
Yes. The pleated mesh aperture stops mosquitoes, houseflies and most fine dust while still allowing airflow.
Can pets damage the mesh?
Pleated mesh is far more forgiving than fibreglass — it flexes and returns. For homes with large dogs we recommend a pet-resistant mesh grade.
Is it suitable for commercial entrances?
Yes. We install reinforced commercial-grade systems in restaurants, showrooms, clinics and offices where the door is used many times a day.
How long does installation take?
Typically two to four hours per opening once the system is fabricated to your measurements.
How do I clean it?
Vacuum the pleats with a soft brush attachment or wipe with a damp cloth. Never scrub with thinner or hard brushes.
What does it cost?
Roughly ₹450 to ₹900 per square foot depending on track type and span, with an itemised written quotation before any work starts.
Is there a warranty?
Three years on the hardware and workmanship, with in-house service support.
Can it be removed if I shift house?
Yes. The system is screw-fixed and can be dismantled and refitted at a new opening of similar size.
